Privacy Policy — Moss
Moss runs entirely on your computer. It does not collect, transmit, or store your information anywhere except on your own device.
What Moss collects
Nothing. Moss has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no accounts. It does not make network requests during normal use.
What stays on your device
Everything you give Moss is written only to your local user folder:
- Reminders, alarms, and recurring schedule items
- Notes you dictate or type
- Preferences such as theme, sound levels, and window scale
These live under %LOCALAPPDATA%\moss and never leave your machine. Uninstalling Moss removes them.
Speech
When you press the microphone button, audio is recorded and transcribed by a speech model that is installed with Moss and runs on your own processor. The recording is held in memory only for as long as the transcription takes and is not saved. No audio is uploaded anywhere.
The language model
Moss understands what you say using a language model bundled inside the application and executed locally on your CPU. Your words are not sent to any external service, and Moss works with no internet connection at all.
Purchases
The full version is sold through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft processes the payment and holds your billing details; Moss never sees them. All Moss receives is whether this copy is licensed for the full version. See Microsoft's privacy statement for how they handle purchases.
Bug reports
Reporting a bug is entirely optional. The report form asks only for a description of the problem — it does not ask for your name, your email address, or any other identifying detail. Whatever you type there is sent through Google Forms and is handled under Google's privacy policy. Please do not include anything private in a report. Moss never sends anything to that form on its own.
Children
Moss is a general-purpose scheduling tool and is not directed at children. It collects no information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Since Moss collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a new use of your data.
